  1. Susan,
I think it’s great that SBA and Google are providing free online training. Unfortunately, after watching the videos, I have a few concerns:

    1. The videos provide very limited information and no suggestions on how to learn more.

    2. They also make it sound extremely simple to set up a website. For people like me who have very limited technical expertise, it’s not simple.

    3. In one video they say it takes one day to do your online marketing. I’m hoping they meant something like one day a week, instead of just one day ever. Because it definitely takes more than one day to have any kind of online presence.

On the positive side, I like the examples they give of how you can promote your business using free social media like Facebook and Twitter.

And I absolutely agree with them that all businesses need an online presence. Their statistic of 80% of everyone searches online for local information is very powerful. That means even if you advertise in your local yellow pages, you still need to have an online presence.

Before I saw your blog post, I didn’t even know this was available, so thank you for taking the time to provide this valuable information!

      Kathy,
My experience with the SBA would suggest they expect the viewer to return back to one of the SBA District Offices for further help. The District Office may then refer them to the appropriate service provider.
