Wednesday Wisdoms: Five Key Attributes for Effective Selling

Tim Berry, founder of Palo Alto Software, in a recent post on MyVenturePad talked about five key points to keep in mind when selling.  He was discussing how to sell without selling your soul and when you really hate sales.  I think these points are relevant whether you like selling or not.

  1. Listening
  2. Empathizing
  3. Being truthful
  4. Solving a problem
  5. Developing a thick skin

It’s a witty post I think you will enjoy.

    Hi Susan,

Thanks for the link to this. I very much appreciate these tips! Especially the part about the fact that we’re dealing with human beings – not everyone is a potential sale. I’ve felt a bit alone in how I view my job, and these points helped encourage me in some things I’m already doing, and gave me some interesting new ideas!

    Thanks, Beth
(By the way – this is my first ever blog comment!)
